Before that I was the Director of IT Operations for ATB Financial, Alberta's largest financial institution.
I was the Director of Information Systems for Intuit Canada, makers of Quicken,
Quickbooks, Quicktax, and Will Expert.
I used to be the Infrastructure Manager for Enbridge Pipelines. I was responsible
for the people that ran the company's computer infrastructure including a North-America-wide
web of Sun and HP Unix servers that controlled over 5000 km of pipeline.
I also taught a course on TCP/IP networking at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology
Before that I was the Computer Services Coordinator for the Canadian Red Cross.
In a life previous to that I was a Clinical Engineer with Edmonton's Capital Health Authority
where I did engineering-related stuff to medical equipment and managed the odd
Lantastic LAN and Linux box (kernel 0.90
I'm proud to say)
Previous to that I was a Research Associate for the Department of Neurosciences at
the University of Alberta where we worked
on equipment that assisted stroke patients and paraplegics to walk.
I have a B.Sc. in Electrical
Engineering from the University ofAlberta (1984), an MBA in Information Technology
from Athabasca University (2004), and am ITIL-Foundation certified.
I’m a member of the Alberta Professional
Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists Association (APEGGA), and the International Game Developers Association (IGDA). I sit on the Board of Directors of St. Pauls Foundation, a charitable society
which supports housing projects for underprivileged individuals.
In my spare time I wrench on Volkswagens,
topple down hills
on a mountain
bike , listen to jazz fusion, read books on
psychology and technology, match wits with my daughters, pat my dog on the
head, take long moonlight walks on the beach.... whoops... wrong ad.
I dabble in photography with a Canon
350D and post some of my work on Flickr.
